A renowned politician, businessman, and philanthropist, Dr. Mathias Terwase Byuan, has officially submitted his nomination and expression of interest form to contest in the Benue State governorship race for 2027. The submission, made on Monday, May 4, 2026, marks a significant step in his commitment to the development and transformation of the state.

Speaking with journalists shortly after completing the process, Dr. Byuan emphasized the importance of fairness, transparency, and grassroots participation as outlined in the amended Electoral Act. He called on the party’s National Working Committee to ensure a level playing field for all aspirants, stressing that credible processes are key to strengthening democracy.
Dr. Byuan expressed confidence in the support he continues to receive from across Benue State, noting that the enthusiasm of the people reflects their desire for purposeful leadership and progress.
Outlining his vision, he pledged to drive economic growth by transforming Benue from a predominantly civil service-based economy into a vibrant industrial hub. According to him, job creation and youth empowerment will be central to his administration, with a focus on unlocking the state’s vast potential and improving livelihoods.
With his entry into the race, Dr. Byuan presents a forward-looking agenda anchored on development, inclusiveness, and opportunity for all citizens of Benue State.
