NASS: North East Caucus Elects New EXCOs, Applauds Self On NEDC’s Accomplishments.

Distinguished Senators and Honourable Members of the North East Caucus of the 10th National Assembly, Abuja today constituted a new leadership team that will pilot the affairs of the Zone in the remaining Parliamentary session.

Senator Danjuma Goje of Gombe State dropped this hint while addressing the press immediately after their Caucus meeting in the Senate building of the National Assembly, Abuja today. According to him, he emerged the Chairman of the North East Caucus in the cabinet formation, Hon. Aliyu Vetera emerged as Vice Chairman, Sen. David Jimkuta -Publicity Secretary, Hon. Buka Abba-Financial Secretary and Hon. Daho got the position of Secretary General. Others are Sen. Duru Saho- Treasurer amongst others.

Sen. Goje further disclosed that members of the North East Caucus congratulated themselves for the success story of North East Development Commission (NEDC). Stressing that for the North East Caucus’ Commitment to the actualization of the establishment of the Commission for the good people of the North East is already a huge success and great achievement.

The Chairman of North East Caucus, Sen. Goje speaking jointly with Sen. David Jimkuta, extolled the achievements recorded by the Commission, ranging from taking care of disasters in the North East especially that of Brono State which is most recent; to road infrastructure, education, agriculture, health, and giving succour to victims of boko haram as well as flood disasters in the zone.

The two spokesmen also emphasized that the Commission had in conjunction with the State Governors gone ahead to distribute palliatives to the people of Zone before the arrival of the Federal government palliatives to North East. Buttressing the instrumentality of the establishment of the Commission and its proactiveness to combat the challenges in the Zone.

Sen. Jimkuta also explained futher that the North East Commission has even being constructing federal government roads in the Zone and intervening in other relevant areas of need.

Responding to the question on the next agenda and focus of the North East Cacus, Sen. Jimkuta said the new EXCOs will continue from Where their predecessors stop and synergies with the past EXCOs to move the Zone forward.

The Publicity Secretary also told the World that the activities of insurgency in the North East has been reduced to the barest minimum, while assuring the public of its extinction soonest. “Yeah, it has subsided, all you hear now in the North East is Boko Haram is not in the news again because this is being done in collaboration with all the stakeholders in the North East. I think that, very soon we are going to make the Boko Haram issue a thing of the past”, Sen. Jimkuta assured.
