KARSHI OVERSEER CALLS FOR CONTINUOUS PEACE IN KARU LGA

Says He will Contest for Karu Chairmanship if that is His People’s Wish.

By Benedict Iorgyer – Karu

The Overseer of Karshi Development Area in Karu Local Government Area of Nasarawa State, Hon. Ibrahim U. Arafat, has tasked the residents of Karu Local Government, particularly the youth to remain peaceful, stressing that peace is necessary for the achievement of development.

The Overseer stated this while feeding questions from journalist in his office shortly after the Ed-Kabir Holiday . He noted that Karshi Development Area and the entire Karu LGA has enjoyed relative peace over the years, which has helped him as an administrator in the local government to attract development to the area, particularly Karshi Development Area, which he oversees in line with the vision of the Executive Governor of the State, Engr. A.A. Sule.

In his words, “Karshi Development Area is the home of gold mineral, which is mostly found in Uke, the headquarter”. This shows that the area is rich and has the potentials of attracting development. However, the Overseer noted that, “Just as the Malthius Economic Theory posits, When the population increases, the cost of living and supply of everything is very high (this is the case with Karshi Development Area)”.

Despite that, Hon. Arafat stated further that the Governor of the State, Engr. A.A. Sule is working around the clock to ensure that social amenities are available to all and sundry. In addition, he noted that Karshi Development Area is enjoying relative peace as the governor is not relenting his efforts.

“We have enjoyed relative peace in Karshi Developing Area because the governor is not relenting his efforts by making sure that he fights insecurity to the lowest level. There is no way you can eliminate crime completely; you can only reduce it and we have been able to achieve that with the cooperation of His Excellency, Engr. A.A. Sule”, he stressed.

He added that,
“In my Sallah Message, I called on all the residents of Karshi, particularly the youth to be law abiding which is an essence ‘ingredient’ of peace”.

As regards to infrastructural development, the Overseer noted that, “In the area of development, within the shortest time we have been in office, we have been able to provide some social amenities within the available resources. We have provided solar street lights in the town, construct and repair converts and deplorable roads among others. We are praying that before our tenure elapse, if there are available resources, we will continue from where we stop”.

He accepted calls from his people to contest for the Chairmanship of Karu LGA in the forthcoming Local Government elections in the state. In his words, “From what people have told you, maybe it is the ‘ingredients’ they see in me and if that (contesting for the Chairmanship of Karu LGA) is their wish, I will answer their call”.
