REPS CAUCUS COMMENDS PRESIDENT TINUBU FOR SIGNING NORTH WEST DEVELOPMENT COMMISSION BILL INTO LAW.

… Kicks Against The Planned Protest.

By Musa Chanchanji-(NASS ABUJA).

The North West Caucus of the House of Representatives has Commended President Ahmed Bola Tinubu for assent to the North West Development Commission Bill thus enabling it’s establishment as an Act of the National Assembly which will no doubt spur physical, economic and socio-political development of the zone amidst security challenges posed by banditry, terrorism, insurgency and other anti-social activities.

The caucus also called on Mr. President to intensify efforts at further eliminating those criminal activities as a means of restoring normalcy, stability and lasting peace to the region.

They dropped this hint in the meeting of the North West Caucus held on the 26th of July, 2024 at the National Assembly Complex and was attended by members of the group including it’s Chairman, Hon Soli Sada Jibia; Hon Ado Hassan Doguwa, Chairman Northern Caucus of the House; Hon Aminu Jaji; Hon Koko, Hon Khalid Tijjani, Hon. amongst others.

In a related development, the Caucus also kicks against the schedule planned protest by some sections of the youths in August 2024, describing it as anti peace and anti developmental given the fragile nature of the Nigerian State.

According to the caucus Chairman, Hon Sada Jibia: ”ln an effort to ginger the economic and socio-political development of the North West geopolitical zone and to restore parity to a people who for years were forced to watch as their lands were ravaged by the gratuitous violence of bandits and other miscreants, hopefully the establishment of the North West Development Commission (NWDC) will ensure the rapid rebuilding of physical infrastructure from roads, health facilities, markets to homes, places of worship, business premises and other social amenities.

Perhaps more importantly, this Commission brings renewed hope to a geopolitical zone whose social fabric and mental well-being have been brutalised by senseless violence that has been unabating and intractable.

Politically, in voting overwhelmingly for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the last general elections the North West geopolitical zone hoped that the famous Asiwaju who has shown himself as a patriot of the first order and a man who believes in fairness and equity would make policy decisions that would bring development to our states in order to rescue them from the evils of banditry and cross border terrorism. The establishment of this Commission is therefore a tremendous boost to the efforts of the governors of the North West zone and has further justified our trust and confidence in President Tinubu’s commitment to revamp our geopolitical zone and place it on a sound pedestal.

We must however appeal to Mr President to intensify efforts in addressing the security challenges prevalent in the North West zone and other parts of the country.

North West Caucus and the millions of people we represent We Wish to thank the President for his abiding effort in leading this Country difficult times and to appeal to Nigerians to continue to give this government their unalloyed support.
That is why members of the National Assembly in particularly members of the north west Political zone and indeed other political traditional Religious leaders in the northwest geo-political do not Support the schedule planned by some elements to further destroy the very delicate balance of the Country right now.
We appeal to the peaceful and Law People of the northwest geo-political Zones who have suffered enough destruction of their peace not to join this peaceful protest”,

Hon Sada Soli Jibia added.
