The House of Representatives Committee on Petroleum Resources (Upstream) on Thursday met with the Chief Executive Officer(CEO) of the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC), Engr. Gbenga Komolafe in an interactive session to brainstorm on the challenges of the agency and explore the way forward in moving the oil and gas sector to the next level as they plan to embark on oversight functions soonest.
The Chairman of the committee, Hon. Alhassan Ado Doguwa stated this at the committee’s meeting yesterday in Abuja.
According to him, there is a high need for the agency to be in constant mutual collaboration with the committee in the interest of the agency, oil and gas sector and Nigerians.
Rt. Hon.Doguwa explained that the statutory role of the Upstream commission(NUPRC) is to ensure compliance to petroleum laws regulations and guidelines of the oil and gas sector.
Responding ,the Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Upstream Regulatory Commission briefed Members of the Committee on its operations while promising that the NUPRC is ready to collaborate with the House Committee to move the oil/gas sector forward.
