The beneficiary of Technology Incubation Programme and a proudly Nigerian, Hajiya Asma Befum Mirza from Kaduna State urges House Committee of Science and Technology Institution to pass the Bill of an act to establish National Technology Incubation Institute and other related matters into Law. She said this during her paper presentation on a Public Hearing at National Assembly on Monday 9th December, 2024.
According to her, the establishment will crave more rooms to commercialize several R&D results and innovations such as solar Cookers, anti-malaria herbs drugs, integrated Yoghurt processing Machine among others which have enhanced many Nigerians to self-sufficient resulting in increase of employment opportunities for Nigerians awakening the spirit of entrepreneurship and a powerful message across the Nation.

“My name is Asma Begum Mirza. I am a proud Nigerian from Kaduna State. I am a beneficiary of the Technology Incubation Program, I was able to get 15 products registered with the dreaded agency NAFDAC, I could have never achieved it on my own.
“Technology Incubation program has been used in Nigeria to commercialize many R&D results and innovations (eg Cassava Processing Machines, Solar Cookers, Anti-Malaria herb Drugs, Integrated Yoghurt Processing Machines, the list is quite long), many local crafts and technologies have been upgraded making many Nigerians self-sufficient, resulting in increased employment opportunities and awakening of the spirit of entrepreneurship all over the country.
“Over time like all other endeavors in life our country has evolved, for us to function optimally as a nation the machinery of governance (ministries, agencies, commissions etc) also needs to evolve to be at par with times and to compete with the rest of the world in all areas, most especially Technology.
“Dear lawmakers we desperately need an industrial revolution, this can not happen without using technologies of these times. For the Technology Incubation Program to function optimally and bring about the desired impact, we need to pass this bill without further delay so that we can have an independent body that will serve as a tool and also be held responsible for the much desired change in the industrialization/innovation and economic development of this great nation, Nigeria.
“From the entrepreneur’s perspective this bill represents more than just legislation – it’s a lifeline of support, recognition and opportunity. It transforms the startup journey from a challenging solitary path to a supported, structured and potentially transformative experience.

“By passing this bill the Nigerian National Assembly would be sending a powerful message: Nigeria is serious about supporting its innovators, valuing it’s entrepreneurs and is investing in its technological future.
