ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT AND DISASTER RISK REDUCTION INSTITUTE HONOURS CLINTON IGWE, DIRECTOR, ECOLOGICAL PROJECT OFFICE WITH DISTINGUISHED FELLOWSHIP AWARD.

The Director, Ecological Project Office, Clinton Igwe has been honoured with a famous ‘Distinguished Fellowship Award ‘for his sterling achievements in addressing the negative effects of environmental degradation, environmental devastation, desertification, ecological disasters, gully erosion incessant flooding drying up of wetlands, forest fires and promoting environmental sustainability, green growth and climate adaptation policies.

Chief Clinton lgwe, Director Overseeing Office of the Permanent Secretary (DOOPS), Ecological Project Office (EPO), Abuja was honoured by the Environmental Management and and Disaster Risk Reduction lnstitute (EMDRRI) at a colourful ceremony in Abuja recently.

The DG/CEO of the EMDRRI, Mr Stephen Ogboli conferred the Distinguished Fellowship Award on a beaming Chief Clinton lgwe who expressed delight at the award stating that it is a call for more dedicated service on his part: ”l feel quite elated and see today as a special day because it is not every day that one is invested with such an honour. I also see it as a nod to greater performance both in and out of service.

” I am quite happy to be associated with this prestigious institute and l am also convinced that those that matter in the EMDRRI deemed it fit to confer me with this honour based on my track record of performance.

” l joined the EPO in 2015 and am presently the Director Overseeing the Office of the Permanent Secretary (DOOPS), Ecological Project Office and l have ensured that the presence of the Ecological Project Office is felt in every community and in every State of the federation.

“So the institute in their wisdom have seen some of my achievements and decided to do the needful today which l really appreciate.”- Chief Clinton lgwe added.

On his part, the DG/CEO of EMDRRI hailed the remarkable strides of the resourceful EPO Director noting that the institute is engaged in addressing the harmful impacts of environmental devastation and so duly honours deserving personalities and organisations that complement it’s environmental sustainability agenda: ”The EMDRRI is not only a scientific and research body but is also engaged in environmental sustainability, climate adaptation and green growth policies that will address climate change, desertification, ecological disasters and other negative environmental scenarios.

“So we are actively partnering with those that are involved in our area of activity.

” We have honoured the able DOOP, Chief Clinton lgwe today because of his outstanding achievements in environmental protection, erosion control and managing the after effects of flooding in diverse communities and states across the country.

“We believe this award will spur him to greater achievements in the environmental sustainability arena. The EMDRRI also organises workshops, seminars, training courses, sensitisation campaigns across the country and our members are in the National Assembly, the Executive and even the Honourable Minister is part of us and we are all working for the benefit of mankind.

” We have state offices in Benue, Delta, Edo as well as our headquarters in Abuja”, – Mr Stephen Ogboli added.
